This article has been put together to give you a plan for the day, with the outcome of a more enjoyable massage.
The Ways To Have a Better Massage
One of the greatest benefits to a massage treatment is that you can simply lie there and do nothing. In preparation for the incoming bliss you are about to encounter here are our tips, straight from a massage therapist.
1. TIMING IS EVERYTHING
There is no such thing as the perfect time to book your massage, BUT, choosing an appropriate time to suit your day is important. You may prefer to enjoy your massage before the hustle and bustle of your day, while others may prefer to utilise their treatment to relieve the stresses of work after a long day. Massage therapists typically work long hours and always aim to please, help us to help you and really pick the time of day that you can fully relax and enjoy the experience.
2. TRAIN BEFORE YOUR SESSION:
If you are the type of person who needs to exercise everyday, whether its because you are an athlete or a fitness enthusiast, it is highly recommended to complete your training before you receive any massage treatment. However, in some circumstances it can be beneficial to book your massage before an event to reduce any tension that could be within your muscles that could potentially affect performance.
3. ENJOY A WARM SHOWER
Showering before you have a massage is something which should be considered, not just for your sake but for the therapists too, we definitely don't need your funky smells in our nostrils for an hour ;D
4. GO TO THE TOILET
Be empty. This one is pretty self explanatory, if you are desperate for the toilet during your treatment you are not going to have a very enjoyable experience and needing to 'go' midway through your session will disrupt and ruin your relaxation.
5. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
Around 60% of the human body is made up of water and massage can be extremely dehydrating as blood flow is increased and the demand for the body to remove waste from muscle tissues becomes higher, it is important to drink more before and after your massage treatment as the body will be more effective at removing waste.
6. EAT A SMALL MEAL
Eating is absolutely not necessary and some may find it uncomfortable to relax after during a massage after eating so close to the start of a massage. If you feel you need to eat before your treatment then ensure the meal is small and just as a means to stop the hunger.
Now you have covered the basics, you are officially ready to relax. Now all you need to do is make your way to your appointment or if you're lucky you have an experience therapist like myself heading directly to your house. I feel this is a great way to have a much better experience as you can set your home up with some nice candles and relax in the comfort of your own home.
